Life, why be Futile?

This poem entails my pessimist side of viewing life, and the labyrinth it brings into my mind.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O life
How useless thou art
What means to be with thee
If you'll leave me then

Child schools, boy learns
Man knows, person understands
But no matter how much he knows
In his grave,
His brain rots, knowledge fades

Man works, he labors
Father earns, one succeeds
But no matter how much he gains
In his grave,
He can't bring even a coin.

Life is futile
We earn many, we strive to get
We almost kill ourselves to attain each
Have we asked, however
Will these last forever?

When life ends,
Everything we earn, everything we learn
Shall banish to nothing
Then one day we'll understand
WE HAVE NOTHING.

Anghel nan Ginoo

I wrote this poem 2 years ago when I was in a parish exposure at La Purisima Parish, Tago, Surigao del Sur. Actually, I have composed several poems in my one-month stay there, just to quench my boredom, so as to savor an idle afternoon, a fresh air, a silent ambiance, and a simply-beautiful view of Tago plaza from its blue convent's balcony. Tago's environment is so promising. The place is so placid and quiet, far from the busy streets of my home, Tandag.

I found this poem somewhat corny as I was just too young at the age of 17 when I wrote it.

Anghel nan Ginoo ngadi sa kilid ko
Adlaw ug do-m yadi tapad kanako
Nan gugma nan Diyos gapada- kanako
Ibani ako sa da-n panawon ko.

Ay gipada- nan Diyos dakan maggiya kanako
Dakan Iya kaluyag mahipaabot kanako
Sa tanan takna, landagi ako
Tultuli hain buot ako makadto nan Ginoo.

Ikaw na sinugo ni Balaang Laon
Sa tanang katalagman, protektahi ako
Sa kadugom, landagi ako
Ug ipabati kanako an gugma nan Ginoo.

O anghel nan Ginoo sa kilid ko
Sa tanan gutlo, ibani ako
Sa tanan takna, tabangi ako
Sa Tanan adlaw, hayagi ako.

O Thou Great Spirit

I sat upon a place
And let my mind wonder somewhere
I looked further beyond there
But still I am perplexed
Who really are You?
O thou Great Spirit
You are too great
That I can't grasp who you are.

Ay Gugma, An Yao'y Imo Uno Ba?

Ay gugma! An yao'y imo uno ba?
Nanga' sah anhi kagamhanan mo da?
Na anay uno kakusog nan tao,
Madaug pa sah gayud nimo.

Uno ba gayud anhin imo da-?
Nanga' sa anhi kamisteryosohi mo da?
Grasya ba'n moalimat sa dagaha?
O tunglo'n mopukan nuon kaniya

Sa yanagpanagamtam nan diwa mo,
Hatod mo pa ay langit sa kayumo
Ampan sakit baya ngadto ngadto
Daw libo ka tunok an yandugso

Ampan tagpangita kaw nan tanan
Kay an diwa mo tagkinahanglan.
Bililhon, di gayud angay mawara
Ay gugma! An yao'y imo uno ba?

O Star in the Heaven

Dedicated to the one whom I idolized most, whom inspired me on my passion about something.

O star in the heaven that I gaze at night
Whom in the darkness of evening sky you shine
Whose splendor astounds this poor man's sight
Whose loft has my dreamtest might

You soar in the highest place in the sky
In which, I dream to reach that height
I raised my hand but you are so high
As I do the stretch, all will turn to sigh

Your grandeur is what do I aspire
To reach thine stature is what do I desire
Your prestige has made my soul inspire
To strive for something I do desire

I bless you, my star, for your heavenly might
I owe you my dream I do aspire
For the one who taught me to dream at night
I bless you my star whom I gaze tonight.
