Pier Giorgio, Man Ever Blessed (Gozos)

This is only my attempt to compose a poetry in a Gozos style, a Philippine tradition which we inherited from the Hispanic colonizers. I can't claim to be good at it, I am just trying.

This is in honor to my hero and saintly patron, Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati

(I do not own the photo used)

Pier Giorgio. man ever blessed
Our companion, our dearest friend
From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

I.
Loving brother, obedient son
Faithful child of Almighty God
Teach us to be poor and be humble
To serve God and all his people

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

II.
Joy shines in your face and beauty.
Amidst sorrow, thine heart is happy
Comfort us from the mountain of pain
Help us climb to the summit of faith

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

III.
The world never understands thee
Yet you remained gentle and cheer
Help us to be patient from all life’s bane
And to sow love against all their hate

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

IV.
Christian witness amongst thy friends
Ardent preacher of righteousness
Let thy example be our guide
As we follow the path of right

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

V.
God has blessed you, both health and wealth
Yet you gave the wretch’d, you cared the sick
Be to us a model of mercy
Inspire us to live in charity

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

VI.
Handsome young man, how pure is thy heart
God finds you favour, art his delight
May, with you, we walk to perfection
To see God’s face, to dwell in his place

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

VII.
Studies and duties may trouble thee
Yet for pleasure, you find time for cheer
Pray for us on our sacrifices
That we, in trouble, may find peace

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

VIII.
Brave activist of God’s justice
Courageous advocate of peace
Help us, as we fight from indiff’rence
Pray for us as we battle against sin

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

Model of the youth and the lay
Brave hero of charity and faith
Let your example gives us courage
To climb the tough mountain of holiness

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

IX
Signor Frassati, ever blessed
Show us the way to the summit
Verso l’alto, upward heaven
Into the triumphant God’s place

From the heights, come, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

Pier Giorgio. man ever blessed
Our companion, our dearest friend
From the heights, hear, pray for us
And into the heights lead us

His Picture Inside My Head

His face is lovely
His beauty’s captivating
His charm is enchanting
His memory’s intoxicating

The man I met from years ago
Caught my heart, he never know
Though we’re apart for years so long
My heart for him ne’er forgot

Ay will I rejoice or will I cry
His picture still plays inside my mind.
Will I be happy or will I be throbbed
I miss him, but he’d never be mine

For I know my place
I know the roles we are to play
He’s a man, and so am I
We are the same, that’s the pain.

Praised be God who gives his Ways

Praised be God
The fountain of wisdom
Who've showered me His reason
To live in peace
To preach about love.

His words are the light of my way
The star on my journey
The hand that moves me where.

Peace be His end
And love be His will.
Let all these be done,
So that heaven may come.

I AM CURSED!

I am cursed ain't I?
Why does this feeling,
This their so-called love,
Suffers me so much?

Have you bewitched me?
What spell did you cast?
Take me out of here
From that pain you bring

Do you punish me?
What wrong did I do?
If so, forgive me,
I swear innocence

For I fall on you
Yet you catch me not
You give no return
And you'd never will

O Lord on high
Help me out of this snare
Do I merit all?
Unloved by my love.

Seminary Life Haikus

Happened to be nostalgic of these moments...

Rising Hours
Bell rings long at dawn
All men rise from their night sleep
The day starts again
----------

Angelus
High noon, the bell rings
All men stop, silence and pray
It's the Angelus
---------

Liturgy of the Hours
In chapel, dim lit
Silence must and does prevail
We all meditate
--------

Night Sleep
Dark, still, and cold night,
Lights turned off, crickets singing
In God's peace, we sleep

MUSIC OF SILENCE

Music of silence, whisper my ear
Whisper me the peace that thou may bring
That from tumult I may find rest
From the noise of pressure I may find peace.

Music of silence, whisper my ear
Whisper me the calmness that thou may bring
For my heart which came from a noisy city
Wants to find solace in thee.

Regina Marie

Regina Marie, our Mother Queen
Hail to you and to your Son, the King
Blessed art thou among all women
Whom by God you are exalted.

Regina Marie, our Mother Queen
Hail to you and to your Son, the King
Immaculate virgin art so pure
Pure as a crystal, stainless and clear.

Regina Marie, our Mother Queen
Hail to you and to your Son the King
You whom God is with thee,
Pray for us, ay humble sinners.

Regina Marie, our Mother Queen
Hail to you and to your Son, the King
You whom Jesus has endeared thee,
Lead us to His Kingdom, of Glory and Salvation.
